Every new van we sell at Swiss comes with a manufacturer guarantee that is generally three years.
We also offer in house Pendle ~Remapping
Be Informed
Modern engines often have different power outputs for the same engine, gearbox and running gear. An example would be a 130 PS Ford and a 170 PS Ford Transit Diesel. This in mirrored in most manufacturers.
The two engine are identical, as are the running gear. The price difference is several thousand pounds but its relatively easy to change them engine software to get the van to produce more power and torque.
Remapping is a good thing as most customers are happy with the increase in performance for such a small outlay
Risks
However it does carry risks in that like any guarantee which is effectively an insurance policy
those who underwrite the policies look to get out of the cover by any means they can.
We have not encountered a situation where a warranty claim has not been paid out due to remapping it is a possibility and you need to decide whether the benefits outweigh the risks. Swiss Vans cannot indemnify you from these risks
"Bad Dealers"
Soem main dealers especially the "Old School Die Hard" Ford Dealers often will use remapping just to be confrontational ad difficult. There have been reports where known faults such as injector failure on Ford Transit which is a know issue, or oil pump failures have been blamed on the remap despite over whelming evidence of poor design and a recall needed. You run the risk not so much of a remapping fault but dealing with the "dealer idiot"
Tyre Size and Torque
Be aware we DO NOT recommend higher than 18 inch tyre size if you have a Pendle Remap. The larger tyre choice places additional stress and there is a real chance of a drivetrain failure.
A good example is remapping a 204 DSG VW Transporter T6 to 260 PS and running on 20 inch alloys. You might as well buy a egg timer and place that on the dash too to give a warning as to when your prop shaft will fail.
